CANE TOAD in Kyogle and Richmond Valley

The towns of Kyogle and Casino are situated on the edge of the Cane Toad biosecurity zone. Cane toads have now spread about 20km west of these towns into the Richmond Range. This represents the western invasion frontline in NSW>

BRRVLN have been supported by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and North Coast Local Land Services to undertake cane toad control and community engagement activities in the biosecurity zone.

During the 2021-2022 cane toad season we are focusing on the Kippenduff, Busby Flat, Hogarth Range, Bonalbo and Richmond Range areas although other control and community engagement is occurring across the Richmond Valley and Kyogle LGA’s.

BRRVLN has engaged a number of Cane Toad control officers and also supporting private landholders to carry out cane toad control on their own land through public education and the loan of cane toad traps and other resources.

Project activities include lending cane toad control equipment to landholders, community cane toad information sessions, Frog or Toad school visits and supporting activities for The Great Cane Toad Bust.

We want your data! If you are undertaking cane toad control on your property please consider completing a data sheet.
